El Centro holds clean-up event for the community

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - El Centro held a community clean-up event in an effort to rid of extra trash and unwanted items in the city.

CR&R Environmental Services and members of the community organized on Saturday, July 16 to promote a cleaner environment and prevent public dumping.

The service is provided four times a year for El Centro residents and encourages them to drop off any large or bulk items such as appliances or mattresses.

Nohely Herrera, a CR&R Scale House Operator explained the process, "Our trash goes directly to our transfer. We have trailers inside the transfer and trailers get filled with our trash and goes directly in our landfill that's located in Yuma, Arizona." 

The next clean-up day will be held in October. It is required to show proof of El Centro residency in order to use the service.
