Over 3,000 quilt panels honor victims of AIDS

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV/CNN) - More than 3-thousand quilt panels were displayed in San Francisco to honor lives lost because of AIDS.

The quilt panels were laid out at Golden Gate Park Saturday, with each one representing a lost life.

This weekend marks the 35th anniversary of the National AIDS Memorial Quilts.

It's now considered to be the world's largest community arts project.

The event organizer says the quilt should not be a symbol of sorrow or mourning, but a reminder for people to be kind to one another.
