Niland families to receive funding after losing homes in fire

Millions to go towards those affected by fire

IMPERIAL, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia, alongside the County of Imperial, announced $4.4 million in a grant will be going towards assisting families who were impacted by a Niland fire that happened in June 2021.

“We met with the California Director of Housing and Community Development to impress upon them the urgency of the situation and urge the state to deliver funding to support Niland residents who lost their homes in the fire,” began Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia.

The Community Development Block Grant was sent by the California Department of Housing and Community Development after families lost their homes during a fire on June 28.

“We are grateful to the entire County of Imperial team for their steadfast work going after this grant. Together, we have built an effective track record of obtaining state resources for our community priorities, and we will continue to partner with the County on more opportunities to do so," said Assemblymember Garcia.
