City of Yuma to have impaired driving enforcement detail during Cinco De Mayo

Impaired driving detail to begin on May 4

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The City of Yuma Police Department announced it will have an impaired driving detail on Wednesday, May 4 through Friday, May 6.

More officers will be on patrol to look for signs for impaired drivers during Cinco De Mayo celebrations.

Local police recommend following these tips to have a safe Cinco De Mayo:

  • Plan a safe way home before the festivities begin
  • Before drinking, please designate a sober driver and leave your car keys at home
  • If you’re impaired, use a taxi, Uber, call a sober friend or family member
  • If you happen to see an impaired driver on the road, don’t hesitate to call 911
  • If you know someone who is about to drive while impaired, take their keys and help them make other arrangements to get to where they are going safely.
