Nonprofit organization Lowcrawl Hugs gives free hugs to comfort Marines

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - A local husband and wife started a nonprofit organization to help comfort U.S. Marines by giving out free hugs.
A simple hug can go a long way, but for this local couple giving out hugs mean so much more.
“Everybody is welcome to have free hugs and then everyone was like okay and I started giving some free hugs,” said Founder of Lowcrawl Hugs Angie Noveras.
Husband and wife, John and Angie Noveras, started Lowcrawl Hugs to spread love to lonely marines.
“I’m the one with them and I’m grateful for that because probably they are going to be by themselves and thinking so many things and they can probably make a phone call, yes but it’s really nice when I’m there for them,” said Angie.
They hand-deliver cupcakes, pizza, really anything to make a marine smile, including a friendly hug.
“It feels great to be able to help not only the loved ones but obviously the recruits who eventually become Marines. Obviously, I was in the Marine Corps active duty person once and it feels great to pay it forward and help those Marines who are going through their journey and their loved ones who are doing their journey along with them,” Founder of Lowcrawl Hugs John Noveras.
John and Angie hold support groups to give extra guidance and drive miles to San Diego every week so no marine is ever alone.
“Those Marines who don’t have anybody there for them on their special day we become their family for the day and spend the day with them and celebrate their special day with them,” said John.
They’ve been doing this since July 2021, John quit his job and sold their car so they can help marines full time.
“I think it’s super important to support all our men and women in the military. These young men and women do sacrifice their lives. They go out in harm's way to make sure we have the freedom we have when we are living our everyday lives,” said John.
John and Angie hope to expand their organization to comfort more individuals in different military branches.
