Hawks softball takes 4th straight win

Gila Ridge knocks off Apollo

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Gila Ridge softball is getting hot at the right time.

The Hawks are coming off 3 consecutive wins with 3 more games left to play in the regular season.

There's a lot to play for, because the Hawks currently hold a top 15 ranking in the 5A Division.

If they can keep that rank or improve by the end of the final regular season game, the Hawks will likely host a game in the play-in round of the playoffs.

On Monday afternoon, Ridge would take on the Apollo Hawks for the 1st of a 2-game set.

Both teams would trade runs in the 1st 4 innings of the contest, before the Ridge bats would break the game wide open in the 5th.

Aimee Cisneros would help the home Hawks generate 8 runs in the 5th to help them run away with the 15-5 win.

Even though starting pitcher Malina Peterson gave up all 5 Apollo runs, reliever Klarissa Rader would come away with the win, with her 3 inning shutout performance that didn't see her give up a single hit.

The Gila Ridge Hawks have won 4 consecutive games and will play against Apollo once more on the road this coming Thursday night.
