Teacher of the year to be announced next week

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The 35th annual Teacher of the Year Banquet is taking place at the Yuma Civic and Convention Center.

The event will be on April 19. It will be hosted by The Education Foundation and Rotary Clubs of Yuma, celebrating the educators of Yuma County.

The finalists listed below are all in the running for 2022 Yuma County Teacher of the Year.

Primary finalists (Kindergarten – Third Grade)

  • Lauren Arrington, Suverkrup Elementary School,
  • Lisa Garcia, Salida del Sol Elementary School
  • Kaitlin Lopez, Cesar Chavez Elementary School

Intermediate, Special Area finalists (Fourth – Sixth Grade)

  • Alejandra Allen, Gadsden Elementary School
  • Maria McClain, Ronald Reagan Elementary School
  • Tricia Severs, Alice Byrne Elementary School

Middle school finalists (Sixth – Eighth Grade)

  • Stefanie Littlewood-Moody, Centennial Middle School
  • Christina Navarro, Gila Vista Junior High
  • Vicki Peterson, Woodard Junior High School

High school finalists

  • Christine Bulinski, Yuma High School
  • Kristin Collins, Cibola High School,
  • Diego Moya, Vista High School

Tickets are almost sold out, so get them while they're available at the Yuma County Superintendent of Schools Office.
