News 11 Weather Authority: Cooler with wind concerns

April 11th, 2022

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A strong upper level disturbance rolling through Nevada and Northern Arizona is bringing the start of a significant cooling phase and hefty winds.

The National Weather Service has enacted a Wind Advisory for Imperial County and a High Wind Warning for the Ocotillo area through 8 am Tuesday morning.

This equates to wind speeds ranging from 20 to 30 miles per hour through the night within Imperial County, with wind gusts possibly exceeding 50 miles per hour.

The silver lining to the wind and allergy concerns that come with it, will be a very cool influx of air.

Our daytime highs will only reach the mid to high 70 for both Tuesday and Wednesday, before the mercury sets in for another relatively fast rise into the high 90s.
