News 11 Weather Authority: The heat surge begins

April 4th, 2022

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Remnants of the latest low pressure feature are fading out, as the strongest ridge of high pressure so far in 2022 is beginning to emerge.

Daytime highs have ranged from 86 to 90 degrees throughout the Desert Southwest on this Monday.

By Tuesday, the peak mercury numbers will rise to the middle 90s.

The heating trend will continue throughout the rest of the week, with temps possibly topping off at 100 degrees by Friday.

This will be the 1st time that we've reached this temperature height in 2022.
