Lyft and Uber charging more to compensate for high gas prices

(KYMA, KECY) - Get ready to pay more for rides on Lyft and Uber.

The ride hailing company said it plans to add an additional fee to help drivers pay for gas.

Lyft hasn't said exactly how much that surcharge will be, but Uber recently announced a similar fee.

Uber's surcharge will be 45 or 55 cents per trip, depending on location.

The only exception is New York City, where there is no additional charge.

Right now, gas is at the highest price it's ever been.
