Tom Brady announces return to NFL after short retirement

(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - After a short retirement stint, arguably the greatest quarterback in the NFL will be back on the field in 2022.

Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady says his short-lived retirement is off.

Just weeks after announcing he was hanging up his helmet and cleats for good, Brady announced he's returning to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

On his official Twitter Sunday, the 44-year-old Brady said he had "unfinished business."

This will now be Brady's 23rd season in the NFL.

The surprise announcement eclipsed what would have normally been the biggest sports story of the day--college basketball's March Madness selection show.
