White House / Lawrence Jackson

WASHINGTON D.C. (KYMA, KECY) - On Thursday, Vice President Kamala Harris shares almost $53 million in new humanitarian funding from the United States government to aid civilians affected by Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

This assistance is made through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

The funding includes support to the UN World Food Program (WFP) to give lifesaving emergency food aid to fulfill the urgent needs of thousands who are affected.

It will also help WFP's logistics procedures to haul assistance into Ukraine and those in Kyiv.
