McDonald’s pulls out of Russia in response to invasion

Max Pixel

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY/CNN) - Prime fast-food corporation, McDonald's, temporarily shuts down and halts all operations in Russia.

This comes as a response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

McDonald's had over 800 locations in Russia at the end of last year.

While most McDonald's are overseen by franchise operators, 84% of Russia's locations are managed by the company itself.

According to McDonald's, there are 62,000 Russian workers and says over the past 30 years, it has became a vital member of 850 communities in the country.

Their CEO, Chris Kempczinski, says the company's values mean they can't look the other way when human suffering unfolds in Ukraine.
