The Americana Indian show makes a stop in Yuma

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) — The Americana Indian Show made a stop in Yuma sharing a lot of unique native American art.

It started with collecting a few pieces and now it’s something much more.

The American Indian show collects, buys and sells different native American art.

From hand-drawn paintings to handcrafted jewelry each piece is very special.

“Everything is handmade so nothing is made in a machine and that is kind of something that is dying out, but it’s unique and it’s wonderful to share it and to just see everybody just become enthralled with the beauty of each piece and how unique everything is,” said Taylor Anderson granddaughter of owner and founder of Americana Indian Shows.

The show makes a stop in Yuma every year with new and different items to offer.

“I love Native American jewelry and I've looked at many many times and bought a few pieces now and again and today I bought a bracelet that I just had to have,” said winter visitor Marie Neu.

So many locals are amazed by the details.

“Very beautiful artwork, just amazing designs, I see a lot of work and intricacy in it and it’s a wow,” said winter visitor Linda Jenkins.

Displaying this type of art and culture they hope to attract more locals.

“It would be wonderful to see even younger generations I know for my generation know about Native American artwork and this culture so I think it would be wonderful to see some younger generations become more interested and there’s beautiful jewelry and there’s wonderful stories to be had,” said Anderson.

The American Indian show currently does about 26 shows around the country and is expected to be back next year.
