Residents can help a local cancer patient in his battle against cancer

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY)-Imperial Valley residents can help save a local cancer patient's life by donating blood.

Joshua Holmes, who's been battling a rare form of cancer for the last 3 years has been receiving treatments in San Diego.

On January 16, community members can give blood from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the El Centro Regional Medical Center outpatient center, to help Holmes in his journey to beat cancer.

El Centro Regional Medical Center's Chief Clinical Officer, Louise Kenney said, "It's very expensive for a family or an individual to take all that blood as many times as he has to have it. So when the community donates, and it can be used for him, it pays for a lot of ways. Not only for his health, for his salvation, as wells as the fact that it's a  financial need as well."

You can click here to register to donate blood on January 16.

Donors are also encouraged to give the code REPLHOLJ when they donate to give Holmes credit.
