Witnesses say victim knocked on family's door
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY) - A scary night for one Yuma family after a stabbing victim knocked on their door begging for help.
Yuma Police responded to reports of shots fired around 5:30 Monday evening in the area of 17th Avenue and 25th Street .
Officers arrived to find a man with stab wounds, although they say the victim is 21-years-old. Yuma Police added he is in serious condition.
News 11's Ciara Encinas spoke with a family who says the victim showed up on their doorstep bleeding and in distress.
"I ran outside and the guy was out here. I was talking to 911 [in my yard]. He was just gushing blood. So, I gave the phone to my husband and I told the guy please lay down. I'm CPR certified so he laid [in my yard] and I took the towels and I just applied pressure," said the family.
The family does not want their identities released, but they did tell News 11 the frightening experience was unusual for the neighborhood they call home.
