Yuma’s Harley Owners Group hosts its annual Breast Cancer Motorcycle Run

Known for their philanthropy HOG-Yuma continues to support those in need

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - It's help from an unlikely place, but members of the motorcycle club Harley Owners Group enjoy proving people wrong. At first glance, members can seem intimidating, riding in on their steel horses, wearing dark glasses and leather vests.

But judging these books by their cover would be your loss since most of them are polite, respectful and caring. The Yuma Chapter of HOG is one of the Desert Southwest's most-giving philanthropic groups.

HOG-Yuma members devote themselves to helping wherever they're needed. They hold fundraisers to help people who can't afford their medical bills, have donated toys and furniture to struggling families, and aid local veterans with their needs.

They're also known for their motorcycle runs, riders come from far and wide to support them. And, it's open to everyone regardless if they ride a motorcycle or not.

Runs are pretty simple and can be a lot of fun. A person registers and signs a waiver; and in turn, is given a list with stops. They then ride out to local supporting businesses that sign their slips. Once complete, they return to the main location.

Bobby's Territorial Harley-Davidson has been an event supporter since the run's inception 12-years ago. The Harley-Davidson dealership is the main location for the event.

You can also donate items for the raffle, monetary donations and even buy dinner plates, which are provided by Texas Roadhouse.

Proceeds from the cancer run will go to help the Yuma Cancer Resource Center.
