El Centro mayor pulled over on suspicion of DUI

UPDATE: City of El Centro officials say The City of El Centro is aware of the incident involving Mayor Garcia. The City’s goal at this time is to protect the Mayor’s privacy. He has asked that all communications go through his attorney.

Sources have confirmed to News 11 that the El Centro Mayor, Edgard Garcia, was stopped for allegedly driving under the influence.

There is no record of an arrest on the Imperial County Jail website, but law enforcement confirms that is not uncommon if the suspect is released to a third party.

We are told the arresting agency was El Centro police.

Garcia became the El Centro mayor in November 2018.
