Study: Arizona ranked the 12th “selfiest” state
The world “selfie” has been officially added to the Oxford Online Dictionary and selfies and selfie-takers are popping up everywhere.
Influencers, Instagram models, and celebrities flood social media feeds with their selfies. This prompted All Home Connections to see which states are most selfie-obsessed.
All Home Connections tracked Twitter data by using the #selfie in each state. It also collected over 11,000 geocoded tweets containing “#selfie” over the course of four months from November 2018 through March 2019.
Arizona ranked 12th out of 50 states and Washington, D.C.
Nevada, Washington D.C., Hawaii, New York, and California are the top “selfiest” states.
All Home Connections also offered some tips for selfie lovers:
Left cheek selfies get more likes than right cheek selfies. The most popular days to post selfies are Sundays, Saturdays, and Tuesdays. Avoid Mississippi, Iowa, North Dakota, West Virginia, and Oklahoma if you love selfies. Selfies aren’t popular in those states. Use more hashtags! When #selfie doesn’t suffice, the top 10 Twitter tags include #me, #love, #instagood, #photooftheday, #cute, #fashion, #happy, #smile, #art, #picoftheday. Check out the full report here.
