Police catch alleged burglar hanging out of a window
Imagine police catching someone you don’t know in your home hanging out of your bathroom window.
Yuma police said Oscar Burciaga, 39, was caught by officers Thursday morning.
The alleged burglary happened near 12th Street and 2nd Avenue.
“The guy kind of popped out and when he saw the officer he went right back into the residence. Then he scrambled through the house and tried to get out a very small bathroom window,” explained Sgt. Lori Franklin, Yuma Police Department.
Burciaga was arrested on five charges that include three felonies involving second-degree burglary.
Court documents also revealed that he had 2.64 grams of methamphetamine on him at the time of arrest.
The homeowner explained they felt violated, but want others to invest in security systems.
Officers offered this piece of advice to homeowners.
“Don’t keep expensive in front of windows where people can see them. Also, lock your doors, lock your windows. if you have a sliding window, put a stick in there so it makes it harder for them to open it up and get it in there, just be vigilant,” said Sgt. Lori Franklin with the Yuma Police Department.
Burciaga is being held on a $20,000 bond.
