Two women suspected of smuggling Fentanyl at border

Two young women were arrested after they’re suspected of smuggling Fentanyl through the San Luis Port of Entry, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

CBP said a border canine alerted officers to a scent it’s trained to detect. After further inspection, officers found fentanyl duct taped to their stomachs, weighing nearly one-quarter of a pound.

The women, both U.S. residents, ages 18 and 20, attempted to enter the U.S. Tuesday morning through the pedestrian crossing.

CBP officers said the package of pills of fentanyl has a worth of more than $53,000 total.

CBP officers seized the drugs, while both subjects were arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
