Teen arrested for trying to smuggle meth taped to thigh

A 17-year-old teen was arrested for trying to smuggle methamphetamine taped to his thigh at the Port of San Luis Wednesday evening.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said the incident happened when the teen was trying to enter the United States through the pedestrian lane. A narcotics detection canine alerted CBP officers who referred the teen for additional inspection.

The search led officers to discover a package, identified as methamphetamine, taped to his thigh. The drugs weighed more than half a pound and were estimated at $1,800.

Authorities seized the drugs and turned the teen over to the Yuma County Task Force.
