Finding Emily Heiber: Emily’s 25th Birthday
December 10th marks Emily Hieber’s 25th birthday. A young woman who was reported missing in 2013 from Yuma County.
13 On Your Side spoke with Jenny Heiber, the mother of Emily, who said it gets difficult every year with the thoughts of not knowing where her daughter is.
“I feel like it’s not really a celebration or anything like that, so I always like to stay home,” said Jenny. “I normally like to stay at home and make her favorite dinner, spaghetti, and I just spend it with my husband and my daughter and my grandson.”
It was only six months ago where we spoke with Emily’s grandmother Lynette, who was the last person to see her before missing in February 2013.
“She wanted to be liked and I feel because of that she was taken advantage of and used.”
Now on what is her 25th birthday, the family still has hope
“I think about her all the time,” said Jenny. “She should be here, celebrating with her family.”
Dave McDowell, the family’s private investigator, said information continues to pour in but is sure someone locally could know the truth.
“I have no doubt in my mind that we talked to people who know what happened,” said McDowell.
“It’s a matter of trying to get those people to give us the information that is going to lead in discovering where Emily is.”
Regardless of the number of leads or theories they’ve received, it doesn’t get easier for the Hieber family who wonders where Emily is every day.
If there is any information you might know of Emily Heiber, you are urged to contact the Yuma Police Department, remain anonymous by calling 78-CRIME, or contacting Dave McDowell at 928-750-5630.
