Yuma International Airport looking to add new flights
A few months ago, Yuma International Airport added new non-stop flights to Dallas, Texas. The expansion plans aren’t slowing down any time soon either.
Our local airport is planning to add more travel destinations to their line-up. This week Gladys Brown, Executive Director of Yuma International Airport, met with the Yuma County Board of Supervisors to discuss a proposal for funding assistance for a grant to add a new air carrier.
Gladys spoke to News 11 and said, “What we’re proposing is looking at getting another airline that’s possibly considering routes to Denver or San Francisco.”
Our high agricultural community was one of the reason’s San Francisco was selected as an ideal destination and Denver for a N orthwest connection.
The airport’s main focus is to give travelers the opportunity to have non-stop flights.
The board of supervisors already on board by approving a $20,000 matching grant, but they still need other investors.
Come mid-December Yuma International Airport will be competing with other small airports nationwide. Brown hopes the community will choose to fly locally.
