An Arizona Thanksgiving feast will cost you less this year

Gathering your friends and family at the dinner table to enjoy a Thanksgiving feast will cost you less this year.

New numbers from the Arizona Farm Bureau Federation and the American Farm Bureau Federation said Arizona families can expect to pay $39.17 for a “full trimming” turkey dinner.

That’s a decrease of two percent (about $.65 less) this year. In 2017, the same Thanksgiving shopping list would cost you $39.82.

The data is based off feeding a family of ten people. That’s about $3.92 per person.

This is the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 33rd annual survey of classic items found on Thanksgiving Day.

The bureau said the average cost of this year’s feast is higher than in Arizona, costing $48.90. It’s still a decrease from last year’s prices.

What’s helping keep the price tag down is the main food centerpiece: the turkey.

The national cost comes in at $21.71 for a 16-pound bird. In Arizona, the cost comes to $13.44.

Those looking for an all-organic Thanksgiving will have to dish out more money. For a family of ten, expect to pay $95.96, up $2.45 from what the same items were selling for in 2017.

The “full trimming” list for Thanksgiving includes turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, rolls with butter, cranberries, a veggie tray, pumpkin pie with whipped cream, and coffee and milk.
