CBP officers at the San Luis Port of Entry stop suspected drug smuggler

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of San Luis arrested a U.S. citizen after he’s suspected of smuggling methamphetamine.

Officers inspected a 24-year-old’s Ford SUV as he attempted to enter the U.S. from Mexico. A CBP canine alerted officers to an odor it was trained to detect.

After a search, officers found more than 100 packages of meth throughout the vehicle. CBP said the drugs had a weight of almost 118 pounds with a value of nearly $353,000.

CBP officers seized the drugs and vehicle. The subject was arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
