Republican National Committee backs treason accusations against Sinema
Both political parties have hit the ground running, speaking to voters as we approach November 6th.
The Republican National Committee brought to Yuma what they have been doing statewide over the past year.
According to Republican Party Chairman Jonathan Lines, the AZ GOP “has made a record investment into the state with field personnel, to run a bottom up and top down race at the same time.”
Lines says it is critical to communicate with voters through face to face interactions such as door knocking in order to “direct the narrative directly to the voter.”
The RNC covers topics such as historic unemployment numbers, tax packages, and individual candidates.
“It’s critical to drive that message home, not everybody watches the ugly attack ads that we see on the television,” said Lines.
When asked if he thought the race for the Senate seat was going to be a close one, Lines said, “I think that [we need to make] sure that voters understand the contrast, or that they understand who Martha McSally is compared to Kyrsten Sinema, and [getting] her message out will help us to drive up the margin.”
This race has been widely focused on and lines said, “it’s essential that the Republicans keep the Senate, the Democrats have been the party of opposition, from the taxes to the Senate confirmation,” he said, “we are about putting people back to work, that’s what it’s all about.”
In the heated debate last Monday between Sinema and McSally, McSally brought up the topic of the military towards the end.
“Kyrsten what came out last week CNN reported that in 2003 when she was on the radio [she] said it was OK for Americans to join the Taliban. To fight against us, you said you had no problem with that. Kyrsten, I want to ask right now whether you are going to apologize to veterans and me for saying it’s OK to commit treason,” McSally said.
In response to the treason accusations put on Sinema, Lines said that what Sinema said was treasonous.
“When you have American soldiers putting themselves into harm’s way, and dying, that you have somebody like Kyrsten Sinema saying ‘it’s ok’ for United States Citizens to join with the Taliban.”
The RNC hopes to be able to get their message out and target specific voters that they know will turn out for the election.
“People are energized,” Lines said.
