New details tonight on the tragic drownings that claimed the lives of two toddler boys. The Yuma Police Department (YPD) says the two brothers were only one and two years old. Unfortunately, they did not survive even after family and first responders performed life-saving efforts on both toddlers.
"They were being resuscitated by people on scene. Officers took over resuscitation until rescue showed. The boys were transferred to Yuma Regional Medical Center where they were later pronounced deceased," says Yuma Police Department Sergeant Lori Franklin.
YPD says that the home has safeguards in place such as baby gates, but still both toddlers managed to jump into the pool.
While no one was able to speak on camera, neighbors say they didn’t hear or see anything out of the ordinary until the police arrived. They say once they found out what happened they were at a loss and couldn’t believe it.
The community also shared their condolences on social media.
One person saying, "Prayers for all involved. Thank you first responders, doctors, and nurses for your service. So sad."
And another saying, "My condolences to the families. Very tragic prayers for all."
