County promotes child support awareness month

Starting in August, for child support awareness month, the Department of Child Support Services will extend their hours and go to various locations throughout the valley to answer questions about child support.

This gives the department the opportunity to go into the communities to residents who can’t reach them. “People that they cannot come to the office, because of certain transportation issues or maybe they have a busy schedule that day. We will be close to them actually. That way they can reach to us, we can provide several different information about our programs,” said Cesar Fernandez, Special Program Coordinator.

One official from the department said, it’s important for locals to stay informed about their child support options. Guillermo Fernandez, Administrative Service said, “The more information that we provide to our community, obviously that going to allow them to better have a better understanding of the legal system in child support cases. And obviously to get to know what are the legal options available for them.”

The program also promotes support from both parents which could effect a child’s life. “To let the community know that we are there for them. To invite them to continue providing for their children. Because at the end, it’s the children who benefit the most. With the assistance that been provided by their parents,” said Guillermo Fernandez.
