Family of woman who was murdered speaks out in court

The next court date for 25-year-old Oscar Quintero, who is being charged of first-degree murder and other counts has been scheduled for August 29 at 3 p.m.

The court will either conduct a change of plea hearing or set a trial date.

Quintero has been charged with first-degree murder per domestic violence, attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of aggravated assault in the death of 24-year-old Clarissa Medina.

He remains in custody at the Yuma County jail and is being held without bond.

A member of Medina’s family spoke during Wednesday’s hearing, saying that they are still struggling with her loss and miss her everyday. They said she and other family members will be at every hearing until Quintero is convicted.

The Somerton Police Department said officers received a 911 call of several gunshots fired in the area of 725 E. Main Street.

Officers located two gunshot victims in the parking lot at 725 E. Main Street; identified as 24-year-old Clarissa Medina and 22-year-old Hugo Ponce Verdugo.
