The fire is now 150 acres and zero percent contained according to CAL FIRE San Diego. They are saying it is a critical rate spread.

Immediate evacuations were ordered on Friday due to a brush fire that started east of Alpine amid a dangerous heat wave that sent temperatures into the triple digits, according to NBC San Diego.

The brush fire began at around 11:30 a.m. near Willows Road and Alpine Boulevard, near Interstate 8.

NBC San Diego said the 10-to-15-acre fire had burned multiple structures and the entire community near Highland Mobile Home Park needed to evacuate.

According to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department an evacuation center has been established at Viejas Casino at 5000 Willows Road and Alpine Boulevard at Tavern Road was shut down so crews could tend to the rapid-moving fire.

The fire sparked as crews were battling a second brush fire that was moving at a dangerous rate of spread in Dulzura. The building fire had scorched about 10 acres and had burned one structure said NBC San Diego.

This is also an advisory for anyone who may have been traveling for Independence Day weekend and or may be thinking about heading towards San Diego.
