Accident shuts down portion of I-8

DPS currently investigating

Witnesses report a crash on Interstate 8 near the 16th street exit around one Sunday morning.

Passing drivers believe there was a victim receiving CPR on the side of the road.

According to the Yuma Police Department (YPD), the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) was the first agency to respond to the scene.

YPD assisted with managing traffic and shut down the interstate between Exit 3 westbound and 16th street.

DPS confirmed one person was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center.
