CBP officers apprehend fugitive wanted for homicide and seize $142,500 worth of narcotics

The U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents apprehended a fugitive wanted for homicide and seized $142,500 worth of narcotics at the Calexico West and East ports of entry.

CBP officers working at the Calexico East Port of Entry were inspecting a Honda Accord driven by a 21-year-old woman, of Mexico, on Thursday at around 12:30 p.m. A canine alerted to the vehicle which led to officers discovering 23 packages hidden inside a uniquely built dashboard compartment. The packages contained methamphetamine and weighed 57 pounds with an estimated street value of $142,500.

The drugs and vehicle were seized. The driver was arrested and turned over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations agents for further processing.

The second incident happened later that day at around 9:17 p.m. at the Calexico West Port of Entry.

Mexican officials turned over 21-year-old U.S. citizen Sergio Jr. Valle, who was wanted for homicide.

As Valle was processed, officers discovered that he had an outstanding warrant for homicide-murder and was wanted by the Delano Police Department in California.

Valle was transported to the Imperial County Jail to await extradition.
