Capturing the voice of the agricultural industry

The Imperial Valley is one of the most productive farming regions in California as it brings 4.5 billion dollars to the area annually. The recent introduction of an annual digest magazine about agriculture made perfect sense.

From the Imperial Valley agricultural fields to a glossy magazine, the agriculture triumphs of the valley is now the staple of a new magazine named Valley Agribusiness.

“So the magazine, is a way to showcase what we have here. And the fact that we can hold our heads up as a region, with a lot of the contributions we make to not only agriculture but also California…the California economy as a whole,” said Bill Gay, one of the founding partners of Valley Agribusiness.

Sue Giller, one of the other founding partners of the magazine, said this gives them a chance to capture the voice of those who live in the valley.

“But what we really are reminded of, each time we put out the magazine is that a magazine is more than print or something that you read online. It’s a community,” Giller said.

The magazine shines a spotlight on the untold stories of local growers and farmers. It presents itself as a tool for agriculture experts around the world who come to the valley to learn more about produce.

Peggy Dale, another founding member said, “You have people coming from other parts of the world to see how crops are grown in the Imperial Valley. To see how the water is used efficiently…in a desert to produce crops. I think that’s a story most people would like to tell.”

Valley Agribusiness will be released yearly and hopes to change the way people see agriculture and become a reference tool for anyone who wants to discover the Imperial Valley.
