Yuma pastor gets invite to The White House

This week’s bright side story showcases a local pastor who was personally invited to attend a special ceremony at The White House.

May 3rd is the National Day of Prayer. Two pastors in Arizona have been invited to Washington, D.C. for a special ceremony.

One pastor, is from Yuma, Pastor Tyrone Jones, who is the lead pastor at “Church for the City.” He may also get the chance to speak with President Donald Trump on his visit.

When asked what’s one thing you would say to the President if given the chance he replied, “Honestly the one thing I would say to him is that I sincerely pray for you every day, I sincerely do.”

State Chairman of the Arizona Republican Party, Jonathan Lines, who has ties to Yuma, knows Pastor Jones and orchestrated the invitation.

Pastor Jones was born and raised in Yuma. He started “Church for the City” 25 years ago with only six people.

Today, about 650 people attend his church located at 3726 E County 13th Street.

“I consider it an honor to be able to represent my Lord, and represent our state, and represent my city of Yuma that I love and I look forward to representing our church,” he said.

We will follow up with Pastor Jones after his visit to The White House.
