Mother cat and kittens left to die in the heat – YPD seeking suspect
Police offer $1,000 reward for information - HSOY offers $5,000
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma Police Department (YPD) is looking for the person who committed a particularly brutal case of animal abuse. The suspect left a mother cat and her kittens in the heat to die.
The Humane Society of Yuma (HSOY) called officers just after 9:30 Sunday morning to report the incident. HSOY told officers the mother cat had been zipped into a suitcase. Her four kittens were sealed inside a cardboard box. Both were left in direct sunlight on a day when the temperature climbed near 100 degrees.
The female cat died from the heat. The kittens survived but did suffer heat stroke.
YPD urges anyone with information on this case to call (928) 783-4421, or 78-Crime at (928) 782-7463 to remain anonymous. Police are offering a $1,000 reward for tips leading to an arrest. HSOY is offering $5,000 for information that brings in the suspect.
