El Centro Border Patrol rescues more children from Jacumba Wilderness

Migrant teenager called 911 for help

OCOTILLO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents have made yet another rescue in the Jacumba Wilderness area. This time they were called in to save two unaccompanied minors from El Salvador.

Agents say they got a call just before 1:30 Monday morning about two undocumented migrants who were lost and tired. A boy claiming to be a 17-year-old told dispatchers he and his 7-year-old niece needed help.

Agents used the boy's GPS coordinates and found the pair in less than an hour. Neither the teenager nor the little girl needed medical attention. Border Patrol took them to the El Centro Sector Processing Center. No word yet on what will happen to them after that.

Since October, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents have rescued more than 140 undocumented migrants. Many have been abandoned by smugglers. Most have been lost or in distress.
