Yuma Air Show 2018

Military aircrafts soared through the desert southwest sky during the 55th Annual Yuma Air Show Saturday.

Demonstrations ranged from the F-35 Lightening II, the world’s 1st short take off vertical landing skull fighter, to the MV-22 Osprey that has the speed and range of a turboprop and the maneuverability of a helicopter.

During this year’s Yuma Air Show there were no dual moments in the sky, and on the ground. Spectators got to enjoy several ground performances including the Shockwave Jet Truck.

Base Commander, Colonel David A. Suggs says this air show is important to all the military installations in the community.

“YPG is also part of this community and I want to bring in YPG and be able to show that the army and marines are a tight nit team and also partners. You can look at this as a three-legged stool. You got YPG, you got the marine base, and you got the community, you need all three pillars to have a solid foundation, ” said Colonel David A. Suggs.

Colonel Suggs says 80 percent of the Marine Aviation flies through Yuma, and it is important to have events such as the Air Show to help the community learn and build a relationship with the marines.
