Tracking extreme heat moving in this week

A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is issued due to extreme and dangerous heat for Tuesday through Thursday for the Desert Southwest. Tracking major heat risks with an extreme heat warning already issued.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-TV)- Happy Monday! Temperatures are already warmer than normal and trending 110 degrees and above. The heat is just getting started. Tracking hotter temperatures arriving this week.

This evening is already going to be a warm one. Temperatures will slowly cool down into the 80s by tomorrow morning. Perfect evening to stay inside or go for an evening swim to stay cool.

A strong ridge of high pressure will bring in extreme and dangerous heat across the Desert Southwest Tuesday-Thursday.

An Extreme Heat Warning is issued for the entire Desert Southwest at 10 a.m. Tuesday- 8 p.m. Thursday due to major heat risks. Highs will be between 109-117 degrees with lows between 80 and 90 degrees.

Remember to practice heat safety to prevent heat-related illnesses at all hours of the day, as we won't have much relief or a break from the heat evening during the night time hours.

An Air Quality Alert is issued for parts of Imperial County on Tuesday due high ozone levels.

I am issuing a Weather Authority First Alert Action Day 10 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday night for the extreme heat. It's going to be a hot week ahead!

I am tracking breezier conditions and slightly cooler temperatures by the weekend. More changes is possible late in the weekend and early next week as I am watching out for any shower and thunderstorm potential maybe on the way. Stay tuned!
