How do you file your taxes?

It’s the first Tuesday of the month and in tonight’s edition of ‘Tax Tip Tuesday’ we learn about filing electronically. Something the IRS may soon require for tax payers. For those that decide to do it manually, the process not only takes much longer, but the possibility for error is greater. While the amount of people that file manually is small, it’s still prevalent among the 50 and above age group. It’s faster and a lot more accurate to do it electronically.

“We’re up to 87 percent of tax payers file electronically. That number has been growing continuously over the years, eventually it might be at 100 percent. 9 out of 10 people will get their refund in 21 days if they file electronically,” said Watson.

That’s compared to getting your refund months later if you do it manually. Watson also adds that by doing it electronically saves the government money.
