Jeff Bezos officially steps down as Amazon CEO

(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - Jeff Bezos made the announcement on Wednesday that he will be stepping down from his role as Amazon CEO on July 5th.

That's the date that Amazon was incorporated in 1994.

Bezos made the announcement during the company's annual shareholder meeting and noted he will be handing the reins of Chief to Andy Jassy.

Jassy has been at Amazon for nearly 25 years and currently runs Amazon Web Services.

Bezos will take the title of Amazon's Executive Chair where he says he will focus his energy and attention on new products and early initiatives.
