Belgian paratrooper killed during training over MCAS Yuma

Update:

The Marine Corps Air Station has confirmed a Belgian parajumper was killed on Tuesday night. MCAS Yuma officials say the parajumper was conducting a training westbound at MCAS Yuma Range 2301.

According to MCAS Yuma, Belgian Special Operations Forces requested assistance from MCAS Yuma Search and Rescue to help locate the individual after conducting a training jump. MCAS Yuma SAR located the deceased parajumper where he was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center.

In a press release Wednesday, MCAS Yuma Commanding Officer, Col. David Suggs said,”Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the parajumper lost in this tragic accident. We at MCAS Yuma stand ready to provide assistance and support.”

The incident is currently under investigation.
