Two pickup trucks involved in crash

The Somerton Cocopah Fire Department responded to County 16 1/2 and Avenue B 1/2 for a motor vehicle collision involving two pickup trucks Friday at 5:17 p.m.

SCFD personal found a Ford Ranger and GMC pickup with severe damage. A witness on scene stated that the GMC was traveling north on Avenue B 1/2 when it collided with the Ford Ranger that was traveling west on County 16 1/2 Street and failed to stop after the collision the GMC truck ended up inside a fenced property.

The GMC truck traveled over an irrigation canal and broke the wooden fence before coming to a rest. The only occupant of the Ford Ranger, a 23-year-old male patient, was complaining of pain in left shoulder and left the abdominal area.

The only occupant of the GMC, a 16-year-old female patient, was complaining of pain in her head.

Both patients had non-life threatening injuries but were transported to YRMC for further evaluation.

Yuma County Sheriff Office is investigating the accident.
