Man accused of 2016 murder back in court
The man accused of murdering and dumping the body of an Honduran man in a produce field appeared in court Tuesday.
24-year-old Francisco Hernandez-Serrano was seen by a judge during jury selection Tuesday.
Serrano is accused of murdering 27-year-old Emmanuel Alvarenga-Navarrete from Salinas, California.
According to authorities, Navarrete’s body was found by the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office in January 2016.
Authorities said the victim had been shot.
Serrano is facing first-degree murder and kidnapping charges. Moreover, he’s facing conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and forgery.
Jury selection will continue through Thursday, February 15.
His trial date is set for Friday, January 16 at 9 a.m.
