Woman arrested after alleged smuggle attempt at state prison
A 29-year-old Los Angeles resident was arrested after allegedly attempting to smuggle marijuana into Calipatria State Prison over the weekend.
On Sunday, Facility “C” visiting staff alerted to Doneisha Renee Livingston who smelled of marijuana after exiting the visitors’ restroom. Livingston was an approved visitor of an inmate at the state prison. An officer started talking to Livingston and as she began to speak, the officer noticed a bindle in her mouth.
Livingston handed the bindle to authorities who also discovered a second bindle where she was sitting.
The two bindles contained a combined weight of 4.0 grams of suspected marijuana, with an estimated prison value of $1,400.
Livingston was booked into County Jail and is facing felony charges. Livingston could face up to three to five years in prison.
