Locals commit on National Signing Day

It is considered a holiday for most student-athletes. For some, the day they have been waiting for since adolescence. It is the first Wednesday of every February when high school student-athletes and Juco level athletes decide where they will be taking their studies and talents for the next few years.

This determining factor is a huge step on their journey to greatness. Today, two new AWC athletes committed to play at the university level, making it a total of twelve athletes who have now committed to an NCAA college transferring from Arizona Western College. The athletes committed include, Bryce Perkins (Virginia), Dominick Anderson (Tennessee), Greg Bell III (Nebraska), Azur Kamara (Kansas), Roy Yancey (South Alabama), Luca Vartic (UNLV), Bo Alexander (Houston), Jahmir Johnson (Tennessee) and Mohammad Diallo (Texas A&M) who all signed in December and Quarterback, Jack Colletto who signed with Oregon State and Defensive lineman Tristan Nichols signed with Nevada.

But, not only was football celebrated today. AWC was proud to also announce one of their superstar women’s soccer student-athletes, Cinthya Samaniego who has committed to Minot State University. She led the Mats to their first playoff win and trip to the Region I Finals this year during the best season in team history.

Two local high school athletes also tied the knot, more coming in our 6pm newscast.
