Renaissance Festival reaches its tenth year in Yuma

It’s that time of the year again. The annual Two River Renaissance F aire is upon us.

Going strong for over a decade, the F aire brings fun to adults and children of all ages. Located at the Yuma County Fairgrounds, your typical cast of characters such as knights, princesses and queens and kings will be aplenty . But surprises are lurking at every corner.

It’s something straight out of King Arthur’s C amelot and a Knight’s Tale. You’ll also find blacksmiths and maidens. The list is endless.

Children get to experience something they don’t see every day . The incredible performers, stay in character like method actors, which add an authentic feel to it all.

Not only is it fun and games, but educational as well. A F rench privateer was on hand to give an oral history of the gunpowder that was used in those days as well as all sorts of weapons of the era.

Vendors not only sold clothes and jewelry, but one booth specifically made aware of much needed financial support for rescued horses.

Music provided by live bands add a nuance in the air which gives another layer to its surreal atmosphere.

And visiting the grandstand for scheduled jousts and witnessing skills of knights is a sight to behold. Cheers rock through the crowd as they make some noise for their knights to win the skills competition.

Elements of live action role-playing is also available as a well a R enaissance edition of jump rope.

Here, you’ll find individuals dedicated to their passion and artwork of a long-ago tradition and lifestyle .

So if you don’t have any plans the day before Super Bowl weekend, you don’t wanna miss the Renaissance Faire which ends tomorrow afternoon at 6 p.m.

General admissions are $10 while children between the ages of five and twelve are $5 and Military discounts are also available for $8.
