MEXICALI, B.C. (KYMA, KECY) - As hotter days approach, health officials in Mexicali remind the community heat strokes are the most dangerous illness of the summer.

La Voz de la Frontera reported last year, 18 people died of heatstroke. Health officials are preparing for the worse, considering how more and more people are affected by heatstroke every year.

According to the Ministry of Health, in 2020, 32 people suffered heat strokes, 12 from heat exhaustion, and two with bad sunburns. Every year, Mexican officials place cooling centers to prevent any hospitalizations due to the heat.
