Homeowner releases video surveillance following home invasion

The Yuma man who said he fell victim of a home invasion Wednesday released video surveillance of the incident on Tuesday.

The homeowner, who said he wishes to remain anonymous, shot the suspect after he ran into his home last Wednesday.

According to police, 38-year-old Jesus Coronado had a felony warrant out for his arrest for unlawful flight from law enforcement.

Coronado suffered minor injuries, no one else was harmed during the incident.

The homeowner said he’s surprised both men walked away unharmed.

“He failed to shoot me and he failed to shoot the neighbor,” the homeowner said. “All of that within seconds, is that fate? That all of us are going to live?”

Moreover, the victim said the entire incident happened all within a timeframe of six minutes.

” We were about six feet apart,” he said. “I told him, ‘That’s it, stop, get down on your knees.”

According to the homeowner, three round of were shot. However, Coronado was only shot once.

Coronado’s girlfriend, Amelia Nunez said she was shocked by his actions. She said her boyfriend reacted out of fear.

“He didn’t mean to harm anybody,” Nunez said. “He was just scared, that’s it.”

Coronado is facing several charged, including: unlawful flight, aggravated assault, burglary and armed robbery.

He is scheduled to appear in front of a judge Friday.

His bond is set at $120,000.
