It’s a belief that many share and it’s fueled by Hollywood with images of lights in the sky and little beings just looking to make a long-distance call home. But, for those that look to the stars and ask if there’s life beyond our stars the latest report out of Washington may hold a few clues. Recently released details of a government program called the Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program has many asking to be beamed up.

The program which was closed down due to budgeting issues in 2012 was focused on locating and identifying Unidentified Flying Objects. Video of Navy fighter jets off the coast of California tracking what appears to be a bus-sized object in 2004 has sprouted interest from believers and naysayers alike. Officials with the program say that the object defied physics and can’t be easily explained.

Prior to this program Project Blue Book which also tracked UFOs between 1947 and 1969 logged more than 12,000 cases; 700 of those cases remain unidentified.
